Meet the Team
John Plummer Founder & CEO
John Plummer was born in rural Salem, Oregon. At an early age, he was already an entrepreneur, mowing lawns in the summers and selling homemade holiday wreaths (crafty before it was cool) door-to-door in the winter months. He continued this entrepreneurial spirit by painting houses throughout high school and college in Eugene (Go Ducks!). Shortly after graduating, John opened his first brick and mortar business, Johnny Sole shoes, followed by East Chinatown Lounge and Doug Fir. Somewhere along the way, he became friends with Mike Scarbrough and—while sailing—they both dreamed of a day when they could put their complementary skills toward a legal cannabis business. They did exactly that. Enter Bull Run Craft Cannabis. John heads up the marketing and administrative duties and when he’s not on the farm, he’s into foreign travel, hiking, beaches and hanging out with all the friends, family and dogs in his life.
Steve Bailey Founder
Steve Bailey was born and raised on a sheep farm in the Willamette Valley town of Canby, Oregon, and by the age of eight was already driving tractors and learning traditional farming techniques. At 19, his then girlfriend (now wife) Liz was diagnosed with AML leukemia. Reeling from four rounds of chemotherapy and two of radiation, they started to research alternative solutions to Western medicine to combat her loss of appetite and anxiety. This experimentation quickly led to cannabis as a medicinal property and started Steve’s lifelong love affair with organic cannabis and its benefits. At the time, there was zero information about how a tincture high in CBD might help Liz gain the weight and strength for a bone marrow transplant. So Steve concocted homemade tinctures from plants he curated and grew himself, using no pesticides, and sneaked them into Liz’s hospital room for relief. Thankfully, Liz’s transplant was a success and these innovations—born from dire necessity—continue to drive Steve to craft the highest quality organic cannabis. He shares his time between his wife, two dogs, and the demanding schedule of recreational cannabis farming.
Mike Scarbrough Founder & Head of Operations
Mike Scarbrough is a Northwest native who’s made the city of Portland his home for the past 20 years. Over the last 15, he’s established a reputable name for himself in the cannabis industry and is often referred to as The Grower’s Grower. Mike’s varied interests and endeavors have included professional snowboarding, chef training at Portland’s own Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, managing several local restaurants, and fighting fires for the Oregon Department of Forestry. But his true passion lies in cannabis cultivation and growing the most superior, beyond organic, top shelf cannabis product available. By partnering with local entrepreneur, John Plummer, and master grower, Big Steve Bailey, Mike has fused his talents, extensive industry knowledge and community support with an innovative vision by creating one of Oregon’s first legal recreational grow companies. His hobbies include, surfing, sailing, traveling, and having the best, most diverse culinary experiences possible.
Domino is a collie, Chihuahua, shepherd and schnauzer mix (mutt) who was rescued from a kill shelter in Sacramento by a great organization called Second Chance Companion. Within seconds of their meeting, a fierce bond was forever forged between her and John. When she’s not hard at work, she loves any kind of adventure, from hikes in Forest Park to shooting Class 3 rapids on the Deschutes River. But her favorite pastime is cuddling.
Fly Dog, a ten-year-old colt retriever, is Mike’s most loyal companion. The story goes that when Mike went to pick out a dog from a new litter, she walked right over and sat in his lap. It’s been love ever since. She enjoys sleeping, snacks, long walks on the beach, lying in the sun and snuggle bombing.
Penny is a pure breed bearded collie and a herding dog turned pampered city girl. Her favorite things to do are chase the squirrel family in the backyard and pick on her younger brother, Louie. Spoiled is her middle name.
Louie was rescued from a kill shelter in LA and is a terrier mix. He definitely has a few screws loose in his head, but he’ll shower you with wet kisses. He’s Penny’s sidekick and enjoys barking at his neighbor EZ Mike.
